"but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
" Philippians 2:7-8 (NKJV)
This week we have discussed Jesus as the true Son of God and the proof of His Sonship. He wasn't the Son of God just by mere claim but by among other things, His obedience to God to do the most difficult assignment of laying His life down to die for man.
One way to show that you are a true son is to obey even when it is uncomfortable. Jesus obeyed the Father to the point of death even when it was uncomfortable and painful. Jesus prayed that the cup of suffering should pass over Him but declared that God's will should take preeminence over His discomfort.
He humbled Himself and didn't consider Himself equal to God so as to showcase how much power He had or take advantage of His privileges. Jesus obeyed to the point of death so that we will know He is truly the son of God given to us for our salvation.
Jesus endured the cross, shame and ridicule because He was demonstrating His obedience to the will of God. Your obedience to God's instruction and will is a testament of your sonship.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask for the grace to obey like Jesus and I offer my life as a sacrifice to you. Amen.
