The Aged Ministry

As part of the philanthropic acts of the Apostle General, Royalhouse Chapel International established the Senior Citizen’s Ministry about eight (8) years ago. The vision of this special ministry is to reach out to the aged, redefine their lives and leave them with a reason to live.it is also keen in providing the emotional needs of, health needs, psychological needs and physical needs of its participants.

The traditional worldview of Ghanaians fuel the belief, not only in charms and amulets but more importantly in the inimical, nocturnal activities of witches and wizards.  Unfortunately, in Ghana, the age group that is mostly suspected and accused of nurturing witchcraft powers is the senior citizens or the aged. Consequently the aged become prime suspects of any misfortune (real or imagined) which is suffered by other family members. As a result, they are often neglected and maltreated. The results of this neglect and stigmatization in most cases are rejection, loneliness, broken-heatedness and depression. Others are lack of socialization psychosomatic disease and premature deaths. These are some of the problems that I seek to resolve through the Senior Citizens’ Ministry.

The Senior Citizen’s Ministry therefore gathers an average of 400 senior citizens every Thursday at RCI’s headquarters ‘Ahenfie’. The physical, spiritual, medical and financial needs of these elderly people (60 years and older) are catered for. Through these demonstrations of love, many of them have received Jesus Christ as their lord and Personal Saviour and made to use their time and efforts in making our Lord Jesus known.

Another very important impact which this Ministry has made is that, it has reunited and reconciled a lot of senior citizens with their relations. The love, care and acceptance which I demonstrate to the senior citizens convince their relatives that they are not witches and wizards as they might have been branded. By this way, I have been able to significantly improve family relations between the ‘once rejected’ senior citizens on one hand and their relatives on the other.

One key concern of this Ministry has been the health and physical needs of the members. A number of senior citizens who came to the church with various diseases have been completely healed.

TESTIMONIES:
One of the many testimonies which are worth sharing is the miraculous healing of an 85 year old woman who was crippled. She received her healing at one of the Thursday meetings for the aged. Unaided and in full view of some of some of her family members, she rose to her feet after prayers were said for her and started walking, jumping and praising God.

Another remarkable testimony is the miraculous healing of an old man who was brought to the Senior Citizen’s Ministry paralyzed from his neck downwards. Many others have been healed psychologically and through the constant medical care and health talks they receive, their lives have been prolonged.

I have a vision to build a Day Care facility for the aged where they can receive continuous care and attention on a daily basis.
